Well, I have enjoyed driving my TT on the road but decided to track it .. so for now it's time to strip it out bare, reduce weight, a few more mods, roll cage, semi slicks etc., etc and have some fun opening it up and not losing points on my license .. yeeehaa !!

Matey that's great to hear!!! In the last few months I've fully got into it. Done a few motorkhanas around the place and other short courses and I've never had soo much fun with my long sleeve clothes on.
However I plan to use the sw20 mr2 mainly. That plan hasn't really worked tho. I've so far used the mr2 which was fun but had shocking tyres, then the 300hp Vvti manual great fun and fast but...stock brakes and suspension coupled with 20" rims is never gonna win any races. Finally when everything was out of action And you know how many cars I have. I resorted to the v8 31 on a skid pan. That was fun and while slow and fat it still helps teach you skills of controlling a rwd car. Huge difference between the setup of a uzz and jzz stock setup.
In conclusion, IMO and that of the bloke who won one of the events I was in out of 25 cars with a ff 93 swift gti (wtf). the way to do it in preferential order is:- 1. Experience. Experience. Experience. 2. Tyres 3. Suspension 4. Brakes 5. Perfomance
I could've agree more...an s15 with 500hp was getting similar times to my jzz soarer because his car was wheelspin city population him.
Get out there and do it! My next event is 18th dec motorkhana organized by classicrally.com.au It's $110 plus $60 for annual licence. I'm also keen for some Rac tuning days as well. Would be great to see you mate. I'll keep you in mind for any events I enter. Email me at soaren1@hotmail.com if u need more info.
Phil Gibson is making us soarer boys proud with the times he pulls out of his track uzz so they can be used with skill!!!

Welcome to the dark side.
I agree with Joshua. Get it out there and then start modifying as you can afford it. Tyres (semi slick) are the best first step and will net you a big gain. Some may argue that you need suspension and brakes to get the best out of semi slicks, but it is a start. Most enthusiasts these days have some sort of performance suspension on their car by the time they get to the track anyway.

Thanks Guys, part way there with suspension .. adjustable coilovers with camber adjuster, strut brace front and will get one for the rear as well .. stock brakes but will look for some reasonable 4 pots with braided lines .. have some BBS 16 x 8 2 piece that I will semi slick .. will change exhaust to run a shortish single coupled up the already 3" dump .. put my 440s and new coil packs plus a water/air intercooler to shorten the pipes and keep cooler and remove stock fan to run elec thermos .. strip inside with no air cond, dash convert and will change steering column, Andrew, where you get yours from ?? .. more later ..

Dash or steering column? Actually doesn't matter; both were custom home made jobs.
I agree with Ben too. Start simple just to get on track and then improve bits and pieces as you go. He did it smarter than me - 4 years unable to drive it while you build it is just too cruel!!

Cool - yeah I will do things slowly to see what works best .. being confined to a wheelchair makes the mods a bit different .. thinking of how to use a shifter on column for manual changes for auto .. looking at a cruise control for the up and down shifting mounted on the l/h side as the handcontrol itself is on the r/h side for brake and accelerator ..

Hey Peter, great to see another track car in the making! I dont think ive done an event so far where someone hasnt commented on having never seen a Z30 Soarer tracked before...
With the steering shifting i wonder if you cant fit the system that the later auto Supras had? Certainly the steering wheels themselves fit straight on....

Hey Phil, Yeah looked at those but my hands aren't fully functional that's why I'm looking at this setup .. using an up & down finger motion is much easier and also it will be on one side .. thanks for the tip tho mate
