Really, I will gonna change the tranny with a manual one...but until then, how can I drift a TT with a automatic transmision?

Accelerate hard in DRIVE doesnt seem to work, the revs cant really build up. Again, in "2" I dont really feel any difference.

And another good question - Overdrive ON or OFF?

I would think that OFF is the way to go, "2" the position in the gear lever and....What about the E-brake?
Does it work? It will stress the engine or the transmission?

Thanks guys.

It might work if you have about 700hp.

Hard as tyres will help I.pumped mine to 50 on track day lol
Drive is useless you need to get it into 1st then you can bang into 2nd while sliding that's the only way I could.

Jai, it sounds as if with the mods on your car it has become a death trap!! if you cannot put your foot down on a wet road in a 3L and keep it staight you need to fix it

My TT does pretty well, also auto but has an open diff, in the wet, i put it into '2' and just normal takeoff until it hits 2nd gear, then just plant it, and it kicks both wheels and just feather the throttle around the corner and it usually goes pretty well, as long as it keeps the loss of traction, haven't had it suddenly grip yet, so i dont do it very often..

Dave, I cannot put my foot down in my 3L soarer in the dry and keep it straight, In first or second gear.

Liviu, You're going to have to learn the scandinavian flick.

perhaps a suprastick may allow it, certainly a lot cheaper than a manual conversion. (ill let you know :-))

It's just a 2J soarer.

Supra stick just gives you manual control over the auto, Steve. It's still an auto and you can control it with the shifter manually anyway.

Yeah you would need some sort of gearbox controller.

Being able to lock the torque converter might be helpful too.

I have 275's under the back and it will kick out rolling from 80 kmh in 2nd ... I think I could paint a circuit easy with some 225's or 235's and any gear !

I guess it depends on tyres and power .

My JZZ31, feeble though it is, was easy enough to break traction on a dry road with my old Ventus II crapola tyres. Once I changed to Proxes 4's it won't break traction on a dry road going straight no matter what I do. Wet it'll still break traction, but picks up again quickly and keeps straight. Tyres make all the difference.

Can't break traction in the dry in my JZZ31, 235 Maxxis MA-V1's all round , the wet though is a different story, same as Matthews, it breaks traction if i push it, but stays straight.

What tyres do you run Dan?

haha i meant Dan McColl, Doesn't matter though, Yeah everyone reccomeneds the KU31's And Proxy 4's

I've found the Maxxis MA-V1's too be great also, they cost $180ea roughly for 235/40R18

Only thing i could criticize them on is there's a little bit of road noise, nothing bad though, great in the wet and dry.

It's definatly true that tyres can make or break a car.

I run 245/275 KU36's on the street.

Great tyre but need a little warmth to perform at their best. Will need to change when this set wear out though. Can't find them anymore in this size.

I drift my Auto 1JZVVTI all the time. I use 2 to initiate and my rears are around 50 psi. In the wet it is really fun. I am running the torsen LSD from the 1996 Soarer so it does allow for reasonable amount of lock.
