My manifolds were totally custom, but I had no aircon and the hydraulic fan was removed and 2 x electric fans fitted to the front of the radiator to make loads of room. Keeping the aircon is the tricky part, but it's worth getting it right if you plan to use the car as a daily or even occasional road car. Without aircon it's just not enjoyable if it's a hot day. It'll be worth it in the end Josh

Hi Damien, your so right it's a massive decision to eliminate the air-con. The left hand manifold was very tight to make but it can fit. How's the old car going with it's new owner? I heard you had a BMW project??

The new owner has a couple of other cars to fix and sell before he sorts out my old one but it should be back at Phillip Island in the next couple of months. Yep, I've changed camps but still interested in what's going on in the Soarer world. I had the Soarer for 10 years so was time for a change but nothing wild this time. I'm keeping aircon and a full interior so I can take my wife & daughter out for weekend cruises without any protests Regarding your aircon, have you seen there's a different air con compressor where the fittings exit at a right angle instead of straight out? Trawl through Lextreme, I remember seeing someone had used one to give some more clearance for a turbo setup.

| Update. I finally have a day off work so will start to put the car back together after the biggest mission yet. PAINTING is not my thing. Got it done but with major lack of motivation to sand. I just keep steering at the engine and box and wish i was working on that instead.
Clutch and flywheel have arrived. I'm going to leave the front fenders and bar off until I have changed the engine and box over.

| Had the block honed and balanced at C&B performance. Then filed the rings myself. Pistons were near on too small at STD size. I was very careful with the machine shop that they didn't hone too much out and final measurements are: piston to bore clearance: 0.0055 Top comp ring gap: 0.025 second comp ring gap: 0.0295

Yeah Seb, probably time for an update! I put the engine & box back in yesterday. I'm working today but will post some pictures tomoz. Had a few hiccups on the way, snapped an ARP head stud, thanks to a cheap Chinese torque wrench reading high. Still not 100% satisfied with the clutch, it's a bit low in the pedal, I may have to get a larger capacity master cylinder. More tomorrow .

Yeah had to replace two, got them same day from rocket. It sort of worked out fine because I could then get two shorter studs to go underneath the inlet cam gears. The thread length was the same into the block. I've gotta say though it wasn't to much over. Next time I build an engine I would drill them out to 1/2 inch studs. The stud snapped at 90 foot pounds. I now have them torqued to 70. Lesson learned

I will have a couple of sets of brand new coil on plug kits for sale with new connectors & mountings for Non vvti 1uzfe, I can also offer a COP harness for wolf v500 & v550. I'll post some pics tomorrow after I test them on my TT engine. Gets rid of all that dinosaur twin dizzy craapp on the front & top of the engine. With the wolf it also means full sequential ignition, so less stress on each coil as well as a stronger spark with more time to recharge! No wasted spark. At work now but I'm excited to finish this & start my engine tomorrow.

Clayton, i will be very interested in the COP for the V500. Does the harness plug in or is there cutting and splicing required?

Harness for the wolf will be plug & play except for the power wire. You have to tap into a power wire off the old coil. I will send full instillation instructions with the kit. Installing the kit could easily be done in under an hour, but pulling of all the old dinosaur crap could take you the same amount of time, but VERY satisfying. I'm also sorting out the wolf map to change the configuration from twin dizzy to full sequential. It doesn't seem that difficult.
