Can anyone tell me with some degree of accuracy how much torque and power the Soarer diff can handle? And what of the rear axles?

Real life examples if possible please. Any help appreciated as it may steer me in the right direction regarding the race car.

I am in the same boat. Bit worried that now I have 300rwkw on hand, things further down the drive line are going to break.

Andrew, don't know if this will help, but I have a TT torsen. Mine is a supercharged V8 with just on 340RWHP that I run at the drags, I launch pretty hard via a 3500 stally and am currently getting consistent 1.7 sec 60ft times. Tyre wise I use a Mickey Thompson street tyre that is very sticky when warmed up, am also running 15x10 rear wheels. Been giving it hard time for quite a while now, no issues at all.
Different application to what you are doing, but it some input that may or may not help.

Mine has copped over 400 1/4 mile launches with over 250 of those on street radials .

It will consistently rattle off 1.6 60' and makes around 340rwhp , I also shift with the Convertor locked on the 2nd to 3rd shift which is harsh ! .

They can cop a hiding IMO .

Thanks for your quick replies guys. Do you happen to know your torque figures? I think it will be the torque that kills the diff in the end.

The 1UZ I am building won't be near 300rwkw, but the next engine will be substantially more than that, but more importantly will have heaps of torque (450ft lb or 610Nm at the wheels).

The torsen centre is rubbish for motorsports anyway? Why not go aftermarket? Never heard of a driveshaft fail on a soarer or supra before

that diff you have should last you a long time, iv been launching hard at the drags for years now no issue with diff, but the other day i did kill the trans support mount. Anybody know of a stronger support mount other than the genuine toyota mount?

Jamie w58 mounts will work on r154s. Look for Polyurethane w58 mounts online

AXLE TRAMP....lets just say it'll kill any diff you have...I should know as I tore all the crown wheel teeth from my torsen. Car was way too low for its own good hence the tramp.

Yep Nathan is on the money here, axle tramp is what kills drivelines that would otherwise easily handle the power. I was lucky in that while I had tramping issues I only hurt my diff but didn't destroy it...
