Haha, baking calipers in the ovens a neat trick. Like cleaning tools ing the dishwasher.
I still have a few big ticket items to do, interior (although I already have the leather for it. And I managed to buy some brand new door window surrounds, which I had to get shipped individually to save paying an arm and a leg in import tax), paint , elec (current) and tuning. If I can get it all done but Christmas I’ll be pretty happy.

Roland,
I’ll have to go hunting back through emails for that one so it may take a couple of days bear with me.

Mike,
yeah I no it’s suppose to be a no go but last time it was running I watched the plastic fuel/brake line cover under the car melt off while it was on the dyno, and I had to drive it 400km with the aircon flat out on my feet so now it’s got a freer flowing exhaust and extra heat protection. If they rust through I’ll get a custom set made and get real ceramic on them.

Hey Roland,
Sorry for the late reply, I paid $399 US +freight for the alt.

So I’ve had some progress.

The car has got to the point where it has had its first run on the dyno.
Last Friday it made 450whp and 550nm (from about 2500-7500rpm) on 98 @ 13psi (10% underdriven crank and 77mm s/c pulley).
Saturday we changed the oil a couple of times trying to sort an issue with the oil pressure, fitted the 67mm s/c pulley and gave it another run. It made 500whp and 600nm again from 2500-7500 on 98 @18psi. We pulled up due to the engine oil issue but the iat’s were 75-80*C (ambient temp was 40*C ish, got to love north qld) other than that the car behaved well.
No pinging at all.
I’ve since ordered an Modified oil pump and an Interchiller which will hopefully change this a bit. And I’m looking for 8rib pulleys to suit as I think we had some belt slip. Will also probable go back to a standard crank pulley.
I haven’t shrunk any photos to fit on here yet but have uploaded a couple of videos on bookface.

Added a couple of videos to YouTube.
Search v8 soarer whipple if your interested.

New Xat oil pump should have turned up today, not sure if it has because I’m at work and the weather in Nth Qld is a little damp at the moment.

Also have heat shielding to go on the firewall and tranny tunnel when the oil pump is done.

And to fix the iac issues I’m going dbw 2 x 82mm Bosch motorsports throttle bodies and an fg xr6 pedal, which should also make the intake easier to sort.

The intake manifold, plenum and air cleaner adaptors will be going to zircotec for coating when it has to come off for the Interchiller install.

Bit of a set back.
Went for a drive a couple of days ago and snapped the drivers side cam bolt. Meh.
Engine was coming out in a couple of weeks for the high flow oil pump anyway so I guess we’ll find out the how/why of it then.

On a different note the Interchiller kit turned up, at least a week maybe 2 earlier than expected. We’ll start fitting that when the engine comes out. Will have to move a few coolers around as the unit is pretty solid and it’ll need more bracing than the old heat exchanger
