| OK, OK, I'll update my thread. One day. I don't want it to end up like this one, where an archive page is needed for the archive pages... |

| There are a few pages of info here now. I might have to ask Peter if there is a way to get it all saved into a single file and put on disc or something. I'd like to do something with it one day, like make a coffee table book of the evolution from innocent street car to flogged out bitsa race car. Or make a guide for those stupid enough to want to make a racer out of a luxo barge. I have the engine and box in the car now. Engine has been started and run for a minute or so. Pretty loud and free revving with no exhaust, no radiator etc. I have this week off, so I intend to reinstall the radiator, tail shaft, fan, etc and start the process of running it in. In the absence of any other ideas, I am using the GM racing crate engine run in guide I found online. (if I can find it again, LOL. I suck at the internet.) It was something like let it warm up at a high idle like 2000rpm for 30 minutes then dump the oil and change the filter. Take it to the track and do 10 minutes of light running laps, dump the oil, change the filter. Head out again this time running it to about 80% for a 10 minute session, dump the oil, change the filter. Fill it with what ever oil you plan to run, then take it out for a proper session. The initial runs were with a cheaper oil, but the correct weight for the motor (so 5w30 in my case). Happy to take advice on this, as I will be searching the net for any 'gospel truth' I can find relating to JZ's. (or even RB as they are a similar age, design, construction etc) |

| well, that is the other option, LOL. I just skimmed the page, but it seems to make sense. I'll read it in depth tonight. Much easier option though isn't it? Take it to the track, warm it up, then run it. |

| just make sure 110% that everything is done up right, the tune is safe, no leaks etc then change the oil and go out do a few laps keeping an eye on temps and pressures, come in check over everything, change oil and filter then go out and go a bit longer, then take it home go over everything and then get it dyno'ed and enjoy} |

| Nice one Andrew. Allan, looks like my schedule and available track days are not going to line up until some time in June. Plan B is now to get it onto a dyno and run it in and check the tune that way. It has forced my hand with regard to a Canberra tuner somewhat. It is booked in at DTS, but they are not my first choice, and there is a bit of negative opinion regarding them. My main reservation is they don't seem to have any circuit cars in their stable. I'll be checking around tomorrow to see what else is available locally. I wish I could drop it back to Simon at Morpowa. I have made some progress: The engine is in, and I have installed a modified factory airbox in place of the HKS mushroom pod thing. The tailshaft, exhaust, radiator and just about everything else is back in the car too. I ran over the factory timing belt/cam gear cover so I made up a temporary guard out of aluminium so I don't run my fingers through the cam gears like a certain Sports Sedan owner. The car is now all replumbed up, less the remote oil filter and cooler. I have a new 25 row Mocal oil cooler with AN-10 fittings. Due to a accidentally using the braided oil line as an earthing strap I am also replacing a hose. Now all oil line fittings are AN-10, and the cooler is a top quality item, so hopefully I have eliminated any possible restrictions. Still working on either getting the sump baffled, buying an accusump, or both for the insurance.

Oh please. It was the flywheel and pinion gear off the starter motor. Cam wheels are for sissies. Where'd you source the hose work for the radiator? Mine needs replacing. |

| Hoses came from ebay. "Racing Life" was the seller. I emailed you a link. I haven't seen anything for the 1UZ in their listings. The hoses are made by Samco and resold by these guys so you might find them somewhere else. |

| you could always get a unregistered vehicle permit... but yeah doing it all on the dyno is also a good option. |

| Car is booked in for it's 'run in' next week. I ended up booking it in at Ultimate Tunes here in Canberra. They are a Haltech Platinum dealer, and they have a stable full of lapsprint, time attack and circuit cars. Today I made a shroud for the factory airbox, and removed the old oil cooler. I have made new mounts from scrap aluminium for the new cooler. I need to sort out new ducting for the new cooler as nothing I have sitting around will fit.

| Andrew sent me a link for a bunch of carbon bits advertised on My105.com. I was in the process of installing my new oil cooler and figuring out the plumbing and ducting. Whilst I settled on a sheet metal inlet duct from the bumper, I decided to make my own carbon exhaust duct. (mainly because it was too complex to make out of ally) Completely made out of offcuts and leftover/salvaged materials it has not cost me a cent if you do not count the 200mls of resin needed. Not too sure if the 'mould' will survive the demoulding process, but at the end of the day I shouldn't be needing it again.
The mould is a piece of polyurethane foam shaped with a knife and sureform plane, some paper cups, all covered in aluminium duct tape. (The resin does not stick to the ally tape). This was taped down to a sheet of ally to form the flange. I kept it simple and just used a wet layup, sort of like expensive paper mache. The carbon is all offcuts from other jobs. I keep all the offcuts for little jobs like this one, and for repairs. No care was given for appearance, as it will be tucked up under the guard and only the really curious will see it. Was fun to get the gear out again though, but now I have a slight headache- should have worn a respirator. |

| Oil cooler ducting finished. I am happy with how it turned out. Now to buy some 2.5 inch scat tube and make some flutes/louvers for the front guard to make it all work efficiently.

I thought I would take the cheaper and easier route of getting a hose made up at the local pirtek. $125 later... OMG I could have done it in speedflow branded everything for that price! The hose is rated to 3825psi though. That will come in handy, I'm sure. I knew I should have just done it myself. (The hose is too long too, just to add that final kick in the nuts). |

| Mould did not survive, LOL. If you measure your cooler core(s) and tell me what size and style exhaust you want I can knock you some up no hassles. That is: do you want Twin 2.5 inch hoses, a single 3 inch hose, do you want some other shape, and what sort of angles are involved? |

| I took a punt that the 2jzgte ones would fit. Top one looks spot on, the bottom one is close, bit the angle of the bend is not quite right. Being silicone it bent to fit. Time will tell if this will cause me an issue (the hose is slightly out of round at the bend) |

| I am entered in the circuit club track day on the 9th of June. I have been preparing the car for the last week or so. Fresh oil in the engine and gearbox, checked the rest of the fluids are topped up and in good order. Ran the engine up today. No leaks which is good news. Sounds nice and healthy too. I am waiting on some carbon guerney flaps and some silver vinyl wrap to come in the post and there are a few little jobs that need doing, but I should be ready for next week. |

| My silver vinyl rocked up today. Got stuck right into it making a Griffin decal and stripe for the car. I think it turned out OK for a home job.
