Just figured Id post up the details about where my Soarer has ended up...
Id call it 95% finished, I imagine 100% doesn't exist as there's always something more
Regardless of the whys and wherefores, I was in the position of needing a new engine for my TT. After much deliberation (well not really I wanted a 2JZ !) the decision was made to go for a 2JZ vvt-i
I openly admit I don't do nuts and bolts, Ive tried that and it doesn't work for me But I can at least hold my head up and say that all the interior work was done by yours truly !
So when I say after much trial and tribulation I only mean from a hip pocket and impatience perspective... but here we are at the end of a very long and winding road !
Don't have a lot of pics of the progress of things but I couldn't be happier with the final product !
Bits and pieces list; - 2JZ vvt-i - Vipec V88 with vvt-i controller - Borg Warner S300 Twin Scroll Turbo - Sard 650 Injectors - Mojo Performance Ignition Kit - 6 Boost Manifold - Turbosmart 50mm Wastegate - Turbosmart BoV - Walbro Fuel Pump - Greddy Front Mount Intercooler - Aluminium Radiator - Blitz DSB Boost Controller - Tein HA Adjustable Coilovers - 4 Pot Calipers - Koya 18" rims - 3" Twin Exhaust with 100 Cell Cat
- Custom 2 Tone Black / Tan Interior - Supra Front Seats - TRD Steering Wheel - TRD Shift Knob (5 kw right there !)
... And I'm sure there's more I've forgotten...
Final results I think speak for themselves from a performance point of view...
Performance / Boost is capped at the moment due to the injectors maxing out, theres a few more psi of boost in there with bigger injectors... maybe see that magical 400
Big respect and thanks to the boys at ESP for their work

Good stuff. Sometimes I wonder if instead of starting to mod my vvti 1j, I should perhaps have just chucked in a vvti 2j..
Yours is the second vvti 2J i've seen with one of those Bog Warner S300 turbos. I know what you mean by never being 100% finished. You'll just have another round of mods to go.

Hey Ali, yeah its a little bit laggy but once it starts to build boost you soon forget and just hold on ! And once its on boost it stays there through gear changes.
Either way, its a hell of a lot better than the initial setup which had an open rear housing, it didn't hit positive boost until 3800 rpm !
Hey James, the Borg Warner turbos seem pretty popular in the US... but I think they are largely for big power or dyno queen cars as they can handle a ton of boost while being a little less responsive down low
