made as a special order car, made very light, crushed velour interior instead of leather , just to save weight, direct steering, non of the options that was given the GT-limited. apparently built on a GT-SUPRA subframe, i,ve got one here i,m thinking of selling, 78,000klm, i,m just wondering how rare are they,

Electric seats velour or leather both weigh the same.

Direct steering??

Supra used Soarer subframes for it's suspension.

Sounds like a UZZ30, very common between Japan & USA, tens of thousands built.

I recall seeing a pic of a built air intake such as you describe, from memory I think it had an issue driving fast in the rain as water went into the air intake.

The POV pack is just slang for "Poverty" as it was the cheapest V8 Soarer and didn't have the fancy features of the UZZ31 or 32. It did have a better sound system however, and was generally a bit quicker due to simpler and lighter suspension.

Allegedly, Bill Gates once owned the US Lexus version SC-400 said it was the best car he ever owned. He has probably had better cars since however!

it,s UZ300023093, apparently the direct steering was only used on certain models, i,ll arrange some pics, from my research i dont think the ABS and drivers airbag is supposed to be on the UZZ30, owners manuel says the placing of the windscreen washers means it,s a GT

July 1992 yours was built, and that month Toyota built another 1018 UZZ3Os for the month , i am not sure what you mean buy direct steering Dave? as all were built with rack and pinion except UZZ32 they had a front and rear rack for 4 wheel steering .

from what i read on an old review of the soarer, this model was made with direct steering , apparently normal is 9/1 where this one is 10/1, you can feel it, there,s no play at all, where theres suppose to be , i think 1 to 2 inches is acceptable, its got lexus badges on, but it,s either a lexus sc400 or a toyota soarer gt

Sorry Dave but they are all the same ,there should be no play in steering AT ALL , most guys on here would have changed the rubber rack bushes if they felt any play .
You have got a TOYOTA UZZ30 GT and is a great car... all the importers put Lexus badges on , but a real Lexus SC400 would be LHD and have round dials speedos etc , have you had a look on here at topics ?, all the info you need is there, David also have a look at Planet Soarer Cheers Dave

I have the jzz30 pov pack. So similar car, but with the 1jz. I prefer pov packs because they have coil springs, are.lighter, and I like cloth interiors. They also have a much less complicated Aircon/stereo system than the emv equipped versions.

Yeah the EMV has its own set of issues. David your car is nothing special. A uzz31 is basically the model up from your one with more luxury features like heated seats, airbag suspension and EMV. Your car is more basic and thus more reliable. Airbag suspension when it fails will leave you needing a tow. Springs will keep you on the road. Your car is lighter then the uzz31 and the uzz32. The uzz32 is the collectors item. Less the 1000 ever made with a unique setup. Your car is the least sought after out of all the Soarers. People who want the v8 want all of the features. People who want the 1jz want to go fast and features weigh you down. These days though with the Soarer getting on a bit the uzz30 has less things to go wrong with it. Uzz30 would be my pick but wouldn't be worth any more then a uzz31.

there are differences with the 92 model, the first of the 3rd series of motors, the UZZ30 didnt have the VVT the 31-32 series got, but was still pulling better times because it was lighter, you dont see a lot of the 92 4l GT-T for sale, still trying to find an air intake the same, just as a matter of interest

David the only ones with VVT are the lexus sc400 built in JP for USA only ,they also have a 5 speed auto,
No uzz30 31 32 have VVT . The v8 engine in the TOYOTA Soarer was uprated in 95 and again in 97

David , They all have all alloy wish bones , if you had a Lexus sc400 it would have VVT , lhd, round clocks dash 5 speed auto . you have a std UZZ30 with a few factory extras, list was huge.

Post some pictures of your car. Either you have something different, or you don't.

From the words you posted, you have a common garden variety v8 soarer, UZZ30, from the the time when Toyota were making thousands of them with some bits bolted on later. It is probably worth $2000 - $5000 depending on the condition. This is a shame, as they are extremely well built cars but in AUstralia they were easy for importers to get complied so the importers brought thousands in through the SEVS and other schemes. Some importers badged them Lexus to try and get more money for the same car, and even developed what looked like a 'factory' manual in english to put in the glovebox.

"factory fitted WILLANS harness."

All factory seat belts had to be replace at compliance here in AU , So your willans was fitted in Australia .
As far as i am concerned all Soarers are special .

My Soarer is rare. This is a factory option air freshened Lexus with RHD and power steering. Was only available for import in Tasmania, hand built by General Motors in Geelong.
