The engine was mated with the clutch and gearbox a few weeks back and then installed into the engine bay with no issues. Special care was taken to make sure the orientation of the clutch plates orientation and Google translate helped me woth the install.
Bye bye pretty clutch, I hope I don't see you again for a long time!!
The wiring was finalised with the addition of two MAP sensors (for differential pressure calculations across the throttle plate) and the flex sensor.
The stock clutch (previously un-used) and brake pedal switches will be utilised for rev matching and cruise control duties. And a special little bonus will be the handbrake switch for rolling anti-lag
Each ECU upgrade seems to have more wiring! I still have around 8 inputs and outputs available so still room to grow :\
An un-used relay and fuse location were used to add a DBW relay as recommended by the ECU manual for safety.
With fingers crossed, the ignition was turned and nothing caught fire which was a great relief!
All of the sensors seem good and the DBW calibration worked straight up.
Once the engine is up and running and everything is happy I will remove the loom and make it all pretty, but I am very happy with how it's looking and performing so far.

It lives!!!
You can hear my girly scream of happiness.
I initially had the ignition timing set to 360 degrees out on the crank, so the timing looked perfect, but it was on the top of the exhaust stroke. Added 360 to the base timing offset and away it went!

The excitement was short lived tho as I decided to check the turbine housing for signs of oil to make sure that I had solved the smoking issue with the head recondition and oil pressure regulator.
No such luck..
With the likely suspect being the turbo, a replacement was sourced... and it's bigger...
Like a glove!
Fingers crossed!

Bit sad to see the turbo was not well but on up side the new one looks like it will push some boost .Someone got an F16 out there somewhere missing an engine ?

Once i've done a little bit more road tuning and setup I'll be heading out to Cory's to get the exhaust, catch can, intake and inter-cooler pipe work done

Re-made the center section of the exhaust and dump with a few mates to remove the narrowband O2 sensor bung, account for the extra deck height of the 2j and put the dump valve cut out in a better location. Very happy with the new layout
While the dump was off I decided to look at how the new turbo was going. Looks clean as a whistle! No signs of oil at all!

G Day Tai . Hey again really nice work that pipe work is tight to body n looks like will flow very well . You would have picked up bit power from that along with Cory's IC piping .

I had a small coolant leak that was a pain to find. Ended up making a DIY pressure tester and found the top and bottom radiator hoses has a very slow weep. I may or may not have also blown the bottom rad hose off in the process coating everything in toyota red /sad emoji
The catch can was finished off by Cory and I made some little hose clamps to make them all purdy. Black wrinkle coat to come.
I also decided to bite the bullet and get a new OS Giken 1.5 way LSD which is on it's was from Japan.
A few 100 more k's on the clutch and it will be dyno time

And here it is!!
Torsen half shafts are longer than those found in the open centers, so I had to get a 2nd diff to steal the shafts out of.
The catch can was a bit smelly for my liking, so i asked cory to change the filter outlet to a -10AN fitting so I could run it to the exhaust with a venturi. no more smells!
Last but not least, I grabbed myself an electronic wastegate actuator from the new 2020 Supra / BMW as they are a 3L motor with a borgwarner OEM turbo, so the actuator should be up to the task. Now I just have to mount it somehow..
