About a month or so back, I got a 97 front bumper put on my car (a 92 GTTL). Up to this point, I have not yet filled in the gaps with the fog lights and chrome grill. I have just purchased a set of 97 Fog Lights and they should be on their way from Sydney today and arrive here sometime towards the end of next week (given the public holiday).

As my car had the "corner lights" for them, obviously they need to be re-wired so I can run them as fog lights. Looking on previous threads I have found that the easiest way to do this, is to simply splice and dice the wires on the fog lights to the parkers and be done with it.

What I need to know is, can I run both fog lights off the one parker light (i.e. the driver side) or will this be too much of a current draw and blow the parker? What I am ultimately trying to do is have a switch inside the car to turn them on and off at will. If I can run this through 1 wire that would be terrific and a very simple job to do.

Now I know the other option is to get another indicator stalk with the fog light switch on it, but have no idea how to wire this up and install it in the car. I believe this also requires a relay, which from previous threads looks to be a head-ache to wire up. Simple electronics is what I can do. Advise please.

Yes but the last thing I want to do is break something if I do that. Anyone have any ideas about what would happen if I ran both fog lights off the 1 parking light positive?

Use a relay.

Then run the trigger for the relay off one of the parkers. BAM.

Dont have to worry about too much current draw. Fog lights turn on with parkers. You can then add in as many switches as you want.

ok I know this thread is as old as the hills, but the Title of this thread fits what Im about to ask instead of making a new thread I thought I post here......

OK ..I am thinking of buying some 97 fogs soon for my 92 TT and wanted to know if the existing wiring loom from the 92 turning lights will plug straight into the late model fog lights or does there need to be some sort of modification? so basically if there is indeed some modification with the wiring I would like to know how you other guys have done it to your earlier model Soarers.... because I was thinking once fitted...which would be easier to do? have them as working fog lights or if possible of using these as turning lamps when the headlights are on like the originals rather than fog lights? any comments would be appreciated ..cheers

They won't fit. The bulbs are completely different (50 or 55W H3 or H3C as opposed to 21W blinker-style bulbs). You could probably run them as turning lamps but I don't know if the wiring for the turning lamps can carry enough current (may burn out seeing as there is at least twice as much draw going through).
