My muched loved Soarer has been at a panel beaters for two weeks getting a respray and dints taken out.
when i picked up my and got it home i noticed the there was a lot of electrical problems.

Here i go, when i push the drivers side window switch instead of the window going down i get a buzzzzzzing sound from the the switch its self for as long as im holding down the switch.

When i try and press the switch on the drivers side control panel for the passenger window instead of the passenger window going down the passengers mirror will make a buzzzzzzing sound ? weird

but wait when i try and use the passenger window switch on the passenger side it does nothing at all not even a sound anywhere.

and yes there is more, when the light in the drivers side door is plugged in the mirror on the passengers side will make that buzzing sound and will not stop until light if unplugged or when the door is shut.

also when i lock the door with a key from drivers side the passengers door will not lock.

I have done a couple of searches and have checked fuses as in two 30a in the kick board and a power relay in the kick panel.

I did take the car back to the panel beaters and get them to fix it after them having it for a day i got the Soarer back not fixed and they said bad luck pretty much. i am taking the matter further because that isn't fair. but im hoping someone can tell me whats going on so i can have some ideas to fix it my self. no windows suck.

Oh and the panel beaters did replace the drivers door but put all my old Electrical stuff from my old door to the new door then painted it** just in case that helps

Cheers

check for damage in the loom from the door to the car. Remove the tape etc and spread the wires looking for broken wires or damaged insulation.

after that remove the door trim and check the plugs, wiring inside the doors for damage. from memory plugs cannot be mixed up.

Wow. If the panel beaters did replace the door obviously they needed to unplug all the electrics and reinstall into your new door. And this is obviously the problem. Funny they said "bad luck" when you took it back.
To me this is clearly their responsibility to fix.
But sometimes its easier to fix yourself instead of fighting it out.

I wouldn't bother checking the fuses and relays. Clearly they have stuffed something up in the door.
Thinking about it to have that many faults with different systems must be a great number of wires damaged OR (my theory) they have used maybe the looms from the new door (maybe a 31) and just plugged in your switches etc. If they have different options or accessories from the new door to your old the plugs might still fit but pin outs might be different or non existent.
Im not 100% sure on the door looms for different models, but assume they would be different. My theory anyway.

If you can get a straight answer from the panel beaters might be worth asking for your old door back and check if the loom is still in there. If so ask them to swap the loom over too.

the looms where taken out from the old door and put on the new door, i am going to check all the wires in the door and pull of that rubber sock and get a real good look at them wires.

a auto elc told me that it could be something to do with a earthing ? how many earths are there in the door its self? I have looked in the soarer bible and cant find a door diagram.

They don't earth in the car door itself, they earth into the loom. I'm pretty sure when i took out my window and when i did my stereo (which i pulled the new stereo speaker wires through the rubber sock) that i looked around and found nothing that grounded to the door.

In the door though? Well everything electrical is grounded :-) but they ground back into the main wiring loom.

In a toyota sera we opened the door and pulled the sock back and found that all the wires had been kinked through years of opening and closing and that the innermost ones had worn through and were shorting out. We added a small ammount of extension to them cutting out the old stuff and heatshrank it all to keep it safe again and put it back to resolve some similar issues..

But for you I've no idea. You can only probe and find out. I'd be more pissed than you sound if i gave them a electrically solid door and they gave it broken but painted. I'd take it to an auto electrics crew and then pass the bill the panel beater.

You don't just get to say "bad luck" just because you broke someone elses when they've paid for a service. If i came to your car broke your wires you'd make me pay to fix them, they're just people, they aren't excluded from law.

I took the soarer back to them and said that ill be getting a auto elc to fix the problem and they will be getting the bill to fix it.

Im going to pull apart my door loom after i post this and look for broken wires ect. might be a easy fix.
has to be something to do with the door. everything worded 100% before they had it and they only thing they did elc was put my old door looms on the new door.

When i got my soarer back from them the first time. there was sand paper belts, food rapers, and kids toys in my car and the new door painted had a big scratch above the window. oh and i had elc problems. i took the soarer back they fixed the paint and that's about it.

hopefully i can find something in the door loom. i just want working windows
