I was driving the car when it became sluggish and smoke appeared from the engine bay.....this symbol appeared in the bottom right hand side of the instrument panel. I have checked my Soarer and Lexus books but cannot find this symbol. I would appreciate any help.

Cat converter overheat.

Coil pack (or some other electrical bit) died. Most likely a coil pack, causing unburnt fuel to get into the cat and burn in there.

If you keep running like this you'll melt the inside of your cats.

Heaps of info on this site, search for coil pack or something.

Cheers,
Mike

It can also be caused by the P/S pump leaking into the alternator. Get it checked/repaired ASAP.

Hi all, I tested the coil packs and one is down, anyone know who might have them on here? I am going to replace the plugs also. Hopefully that should fix it.

I suggest you buy a new one otherwise you could just have the same problem in the near future.

Have a search of the forum (i'm at work, so no real time to spare). I have heard they are the same as on a Camery (not sure which), and I have also read you can get them from Super Cheap or something for around $50-$70. I wish I knew that when I got mine.

They are the only ones to make aftermarket coilpacks for the Soarer. Less than half the price of genuine.

Different coil packs for a v8 or a TT.

The coils are pretty common toyota, used on some camry's and a few other things as well.

Easily available either oem or aftermarket.
