I've finally picked up on what the japanese in my car says and it's yelling at me saying my brake fluid level is low.
I have now checked my fluid levels twice, and everything seems to be topped up and good. But it constantly pops up maybe 2-4 times a week.
I'm not sure if something is playing up...
Has anyone else had this problem?

Slightly overfill - it's quite a common issue.

Unplug the sensor on the side of the fluid reservoir and it will go away permanently.

It doesn't look over filled though... Can something be stuck?! I'm tempted to just shove a stick down there and poke around. Haha.

Jeff, I want to fix the problem, not avoid it! But I'd probably resort to that if it drives me insane.

Thanks!

Just to make sure:
1) putting in the right fluid
2) the fluid is on the right level there are two marks on the brake reserve tank a Min and Max
3) try swtiching the engine off and pump the brakes untill stiff to see if the fluid drops down.

All the best of luck

you need to over fill it slightly to fix the problem.

you can also unplug the sensor lead.

How come I have to over fill it slighty to fix it?

because the sensor is on the cap, and the sensor can get stuck sometimes. if its annoying you that much then just take the plug out of the cap. this would mean that you have to keep checking your brake fluid visually.

Depends on the type of reservoir and level sensor you have.
Some TT cars have a different type to the V8's.

Upload
If it's one of these then check it out and remove the fluid from inside the shaft-there's a procedure on here somewhere.
You can see from the photo that the float doesn't rise/fall by much and if you hold it close to your ear and move the float up/down you should be able to hear the micro switch clicking on/off.
The floats can fail by cracking and become non bouyant so no amount of topping up will improve things.
Brake fluid is hydroscopic and so absorbs moisture with time and some will get inside that tube to short out the effect of the float on the micro switch so cleaning out should fix your problem.
If your's has a vertical type float then I'm not sure what you do.

Nah I don't have one of those :-(

But thanks anyway. I overfilled the brake fluid, so hopefully it'll be fixed.
