Hey guys
I'm new here, so please bare with me
I recently purchased my first car, a 1992 V8 Soarer Limited. It has done 112,000 km and its in pretty neat condition. The only issues with it is that the EMV backlight is broken/damaged and the CD stacker skips like crazy. I was wondering how I could overcome this. To me, I dont really think I need the EMV screen. It has some pretty useful functions like controlling the fans, but my AC and heater does work without it. I guess my main question is : Can I replace/repair my CD stacker with say an iPod/DVD player without repairing the EMV?
I'm not good with electronics, so I hope the alternative can be done by an audio specialist.

Rogan, keep searching the site and you will find an answer to everything you have just asked. It all depends on how much you want to modify your existing EMV setup and how much money and time you want to throw at it.
To get you started though, I suggest you replace the emv screen, so you can use it, I will have one for sale soon, but there are heaps of EMV soarers being wrecked at the moment too.
Then simply run a "cleaning CD" through the stacker. Ive heard good results from doing this.
My old setup had a dvd player installed into the existing TV input. which i removed and plugged my phone into to play music thorugh. which was good for a little bit.
But as of 2 weeks ago Ive done the whole non EMV AC control Mod and then installed a double din touch screen all in one media/gps/tv/bluetooth unit in. works a treat but is A LOT of work. and you need to be good with electronics and custom fabrication to make it all work and sit properly.

Just buy a second hand EMV and you will be able to install yourself. there are only about 10 screws / half a dozen electrical clips and out she slides.
Give Daniel Savage a PM for a price on a second hand EMV.

PM Damien Ware to repair the EMV. You definitely need it as it controls a lot of features. Also the skipping of the CD player is a common fault and usually means the laser needs realigning. Talk to Damien about this too
