How does the anti theft system work on the Soarer 31? I shorted the main ignition wire out by accident and the car locked itself. I assume that somehow I tapped into the anti theft system. I don't know anything about this system on my car. Does it have an anti theft system. My ignition key has a wireless door lock facility but it does not work on my doors, because they have different locks? Can anyone explain anything about this feature on the '91 model V8 luxury model 31? Can I get it operational? Cheers John

John, the central locking operates the door lock mechanism, not the barrel, so it doesn't matter if the left and right doors have different locks.
The key is the transmitter and the receiver is behind the rear right passenger trim, if your door locks are different the key may not have the correct transmitter for the receiver in your car.
You could try a new battery in your key, that may get it working, or you could pull out the receiver and check if it has the correct module for your key, you have to pry apart the key.Or you could fit an after market set-up, I have a Valet 712t (off ebay) and works very good. The key survived a swim in the washing machine, I only had to dry it out and it was working again. And spare transmitters are readily available and reasonably cheap too.

Hi Peter, are you saying that I can get a new key along with a new eprom and this would make my system work? I bought a battery but the wireless part of my key doesn't work. I think that the ignition barrel has been changed, is that hard to get out so that I can get that rekeyed. If I could get a new key with a circuit that matched the module that you say is behind the rear right passenger trim I would be getting what I am after i.e. One key for everything and a wireless/keyless entry. Cheers John

John, I looked into getting a new key and e-prom but it is pretty expensive, about $400-$500, and you have to get the key cut to your lock, so you would still have the problem of different keys.
You could talk to Daniel Savage, he may have a complete matching set of second hand locks, then go after market with the central locking. Don't know about barrel removal as I have never had to do it.
