just to elaborate some more, it seems to be stuck in low speed as i can change the speed from low to high and it gets faster but its like its stuck no matter what i do. the rear is working fine its just affecting the front wiper any ideas ? can i pull the wiper hand controller apart or is it sealed ?

I had the same problem yesterday. It was raining and wipers turned on and off randomly. I was able to change the wiping speed, but couldn't turn them off. I think water makes some kind of short circuit somewhere. Wiper motor? Ideas how to fix this?

I had the same issue and it was the plug to the wiper motor wasn't water tight and when it rained it would short circuit and keep running. The plug is under the vents at the back of the bonnet just at the bottom of the windscreen. Take the trim off and unplug the motor, spray the connections with a electric contact cleaner the reseal. I put a smear of silicon around the join and it hasn't played up since
