has anyone had/seen/heard of/have any idea of how my problem?
with the ignition on(motor not running) my ac/fan/demister controls all work fine, but if i crank the motor the car starts, then dies straight away. if i start the car with the a/c controls OFF everything runs perfect, as soon as i turn them on the dash lights turn off and the motor stalls.
ive tried putting in another a/c control unit(face and motherboards) but still have the same issue so i doubt its that. please give me guidance...this is killing me!

You probably have a dodgy earth connection that is causing it.

Check the connections around that area and under the carpet on the passenger side as the engine ECU is down there as well.

as michael has said, look for a bad connection proballa an earth wire , but could be power wire to the dash. When you have the fan on, the extra current being drawn causes a voltage drop at the "bad" connection, that is why the dash turns off and engine stops.there is an earth point under the centre controls around the gear shift.
