Has anyone had any experience with performance chips in the 1UZFE V8? I was looking on the web and was impressed with the claims of these chips from the U.S. $40 is a very cheap performance mod if it works?

yep I would add $40 chip to my car... get yourself a Turbo Zet or hyclone and maybe some of those magnetic things for your fuel line too...
will give many many more killer wasps at the back wheels!!!
Disclaimer: I am hanging on you, please research more into how EFI systems work and common cheats for fooling the ecu in to adding or subtracting fuel and or ignition advance, these " performance " chips are typically no more then a resistor on the coolant temp or air temp sensor.

What does this "chip" actually do and where does it plug in? As far as I know you can't just "Chip" Toyota ECU's unless somebody has figured out a way to reprogram the factory chip in that case you'd need to solder one in if this was infact a "chip"

http://www.fuelsaving.info/chipping.htm provides a nice and simple explanation of this, along with plenty of other 'fuel saving' and 'performance improvement' mods.
