Hi guys,
when I reverse I have the usual reverse beeper which comes from behind the dash and I also have another beeping sound, which comes from the rear parking sensor. I heard these are usually on the rear pumper, and because it is not the original kit anymore they don't work properly. I remember seeing a tutorial on this site I'm pretty sure on how to remove the reverse sensor beeper, and maybe another article on how to replace them with new ones so it works properly. Any one know?

With the rear park assist when you put it into reverse how many beeps do you hear? If you get more then 2 beeps the beeps will tell you which sensor head is not working. It dont mattter if its genuine or an aftermarket kit they all fit the same way. The genuine Toyota kits are plug and play while some aftermarket kits you will have to tap into the reverse wire.
They are all pretty simple to do just need some time on your hands to fit them.

2 beeps I'm pretty sure. I have heard it change very rarely like it's working, but hardly ever happens. I will double check that though tonight. You wouldn't happen to have seen any of those tutorials I mentioned?

Luke: I haven't seen the tutorials you have mentioned. I fit sensors and what not to brand new Toyota's, Honda's and Mazda's The only kits that i do have to make up the loom for is the honda kits even tho they are genuine we have to tap into the reverse wire. Toyota and mazda use the same kit and is very simple just plug and play. So pretty much loom is already made up and its just plug and play into the main loom.

No, they just disconnected the wires and filled the hole in the bumper in. As far as I know the actual beeper is still under the dash somewhere... but it doesn't make any sound any more.

It actually makes 4 beeps, Nathan do you know which one is not working then? And thanks Matthew, that's triggered a memory now about a tutorial I seen where the guy removes the reverse beeper and also pointed to where the sensors were too. Now just got to find it.

Luke: I'm not at work and i cannot remember off the top of my head to find out which sensor head is not working. When you put it into reverse it should do 2 beeps thats just to say its activated. Any beeps after that when you are not anywhere near a wall etc then it means one of the sensor heads are not working.
You can also test to see which sensor head is not working buy having the car in reverse and put your hand in line with a sensor and move it towards the sensor if its beep beep beep then gets quicker then its a long beep its find no beeps means that sensor head is not working.
I am guessing its an aftermarket unit? Your best bet to disconnect the sensors so it dont beep when you put into reverse is find where the control box is and disconnect the wiring from it. Could be left or right hand side in the boot where they do get put unless its a factory setup which is in the loom but you will know if you look under the bumper it will only have one plug to control the sensors not a loom with 4 plugs on it.
