Pretty sure that plug is for the factory bov. If it's disconnected the bov is disabled which has been reported to increase response of the turbo off the line.
You will hear a distinct difference when you back off the throttle between connected and disconnected.

Yes! Thanks Paul.
There's a distinctive difference in performance; the car feels more sluggish off the line.
Was under the impression that its linked to the vvti system. My previous vvti 3.0 NA behaved the same way. Takes a while before it decides to kick past the 3.5k rpm range.
Quick question though, there's a loud release flutter when the plug's disconnected as compared to it being connected. Is that the difference in sound you were talking about?
In addition, would the turbos get knackered if the plug is removed? From my understanding, there's a safety boost cut so I wouldnt be pushing it beyond its limits but would the turbos get overworked?

Edison,
The loud flutter is because the bov is disabled, hence when you close the throttle the boost is not vented and the back pressure is forced back onto the compressor wheel of the turbo.
The bov is designed to reduce this back pressure and extend the life of the turbo. The bov has no effect on the boost limit as this is regulated by the wastegate.
For the record, remember there is only one turbo in there
