When i first started searching the posts i read somewhere that the Lexus sc400 ecu doesnt have the speed limiter, is this a straight swap for the Limited v8 ecu? Also, can the cruise control unit be swapped with the sc400 unit to allow more than the annoying 108km limit? I havent been able to find a definite answer in the posts and they all seem to go back a few years, Cheers

For the cruise control, you can do the mod following the guide here:

it will work, but it think it throws an error for the transmission as its different.

I have used a US spec SC400 for a few hundred kilometers, and yes, it has no speed limiter, but the speedo will only show to 180 k's, even though you can feel the car still accelerating past 180.

The transmission is different on the SC400 compared to the V8 Soarer, so you get an error code, can't remember what it is, but it is detremental to the transmission over a short time.

Damian Ware had a play with my US spec ECU, but said it was too difficult to modify to work on the Soarer correctly. A US spec ECU may be good for use in a manual conversion, but I'm not sure, I think they also up the rev limit a few hundred RPM

The cruise control mod has no issues. I have had it for about 8 years. Its a easy fix and well worth doing in these days of speed cameras.

Ok, well i dont think i will bother trying to source one then. I had read about the cruise mod, but my soldering iron is more like a branding iron and im not that keen to do it myself. Thanks for the advice guys.

Dave, if you can pull it out yourself, it would be a 2 minute job to get someone to solder it for you.

my soldering skills are rubbish as well, but i was able to do it. I just place the leg on to the hole, applied a little pressure and place the solder gun on the leg, it heats up enough to press it through the hole.
