This may be a stupid question, or maybe somebody else has had this problem. I bought an OBD reader for my 1992 soarer, and the connections that I have don't both match the two ports. The round one seems to match the port in the dash. The rectangular diagnosis port though does not seem to match the rectangular port that is designated as my other toyota port. Has anyone had this problem? Do I need a special connector?

There have been a few threads about OBD, probably worth doing a search. Your OBD reader may be the wrong version too.

I'll make the jumping conclusion I bought the wrong OBD reader then. Do you know what the correct OBD reader is called, I have the Innova 3140. I messaged the company to se if they have an adapter for it, just waiting on a reply.
