gday everyone.

im just getting the car ready for rego, and i noticed the light on my normal spoiler does not work. we opened inside the boot, and found a wire that goes to it, but it was disconnected.

will it pass rego without this light?
the light is about 25cm long and 1cm thick.

whats the best way to replace the light?

Hey Chris,
I had the same problem with my 97 spoiler light,
Mine had 2 wires going into a plug and into the light and it turned out The polarity was wrong
Im not sure if pre 97 is the same but if you have two wires coming out of the light try hooking them up to a battery both ways.
Anyway hope that helps somehow
Cheers Jack

we found out that the cut wires was the ariel for the stereo we think.

and the wires inside the spoiler were obviously for the light. but the light does not work.

so we pulled it out and connected it to the battery and it never came on.

now i just gotta find a place or someone that has one lol..goodluck to me

look on ebay for LED strips, you should be able to find one that fits.

on yours give it a good visual look at the tracks for any breaks and also check the resistors for a bad soldered joint.

thanks tom i will try find one.

i dont think you can get in there to check everything because mine is 1 peice. nothing is glued or bolted together, its just peice of plastic with the leds inside it. unless i finely hack saw the top right off, then lightly glue it back on..

hi chris, on the standard boot spoiler i have, if you remove it from the boot you will have full access to the light assy. its held on with a couple of screws.

if you are unable to repair it something like this could be used

Where are the clips located on the rear spoiler LED strip that are holding it in? I have tried removing it carefully but with no success so far.

thanks josh i will let you know.

we ended up getting the spoiler and light out yesterday. and then today we checked the power for the wires going to it, and they dont work. so we think its just a fuse, and we are just going thru the manuals now to find fuses etc. and hopefully thats it, otherwise i will hit you up for that light josh. i am not sure what kind of spoiler it is. but just looking at the light now its about 35cm long, and 1cm thick.

mark, on mine the led strip is held on with a couple of screws.

You need to remove the spoiler from the boot to get access
