gidday my 1j alternator has failed on my vl (yes i know its wrong :-))

can you get an upgraded amp unit that will fit of a supra or v8??

i tried a search on google but i need to work out what alternator i have. whats the trick for that. Just take it off and get the part no??

any help would be great
