Tom, thanks for the reply. It's OK I'm not a novice, at 63 I have repaired a few totally broken circuit boards in my time. I am just a sponge for information. Yes with my short/long term memory problem, and too many bag Whites, O/C 'Tracks' just escaped me at the time................

Fault can also be caused by a failed sat nav unit.
Unplug the sat nav in the boot, black box located under the CD stacker. The plug is located towards the front of the car near the fuel tank mounting bolt/wheel arch.
If this isn't the fault as others have said it will be the EMV piggy back computer.
