Help!!
SOS!! My car won't go. Today I flicked a switch that was left over from a an attempt to fit a HHO system to my V8. I thought that it was inactive but it was connected to a wire that went into the engine bay and just lay there (seemingly alive if the switch was on, which it had never been since taking the HHO generator off). The problem seems to be that it has shorted something out. This wire got it's power from the ignition switch when the key was on. I was idling at the lights when I flicked without thinking and the engine died instantly at the traffic lights. Had to get it towed home.
I checked the fuses that seemed to relate to the ignition but could not find a problem.
I wondered if I have blown my ECU? The engine spins freely and the EMV and the dash work but no message comes up to tell me there is anything wrong. The lower line of the dash just reads "charge".
I have LPG injection and checked those fuses too but all ok. The LPG system has a tank gauge on the dash but the lights do not come on at all, not sure if they did in the past, before the engine fired but I seem to recall them coming on as soon as the key was turned on before the engine was actually started.
Where should I begin to look for this problem? Could it be that I have wrecked my ECU? I have my 32 in the garage, can I swap the ECU from that to my 31 to see if this fixes it? Helpppppppp Please. Thanks guys

The battery is fine as it spins the motor fast. What might have happened to the alternator? The starter works fine. My concern is the ECU. I phoned the mechanic who did the LPG conversion for me and he said that the ECUs are usually well protected so that he thinks it is a fuse (ignition or EFI probably) even though they look fine. I did not have my multimeter with me on the road so will pull each fuse out and check for continuity.
When you say all fuses, do you mean including things like lights and cigarette lighter?
The LPG injectors take their signal from the Petrol EFI, so that is not getting a signal to send fuel in, so the engine is not firing.
I need to find what blew when I shorted out the ignition.

by spins freely, do you mean it cranks? if it doesnt crank i think your options are: ignition, fuel and ecu fuses, the ecu itself or the starter (assuming battery and alternator are good).

"spins" means it cranks or turns over just like normal but does not fire. There is no fuel being injected, according to the lack of lights on the LPG fuel gauge, which takes its signal from the petrol injection system.
I will recheck the fuses with a multimeter in the morning and if it still does not show up the problem I will swap the relays from my 32 and if that does not work, could I swap the ECU from my 32?

I can not get the big fuses out of the underhood fuse box to test them with a multimeter. The first 2 on the left of the picture came out with difficulty but I just could not get the others out, seemed as if I would destroy them in the process.
I went to my 32 to see if I could get them out of it but it was the same, the right hand 2 came out with difficulty but the others seemed as if they were welded in.

I have taken the bolts off that hold the fuse box down and taken it out but still trying to work out how to get the fuses out. I have taken off the bolts below the fuse on one side and am proceeding to take off everything I can see to get them out. Moving forward but not there yet.

Too hard, it looked like I had to dismantle everything to get these fuses out so I decided to go in through the top of the fuses to check the continuity and when I got to the very first fuse in the line, a little 30 amp one, it was the culprit. All fixed and back together.
This fuse cost me $100 tow. All because I did not have my multimeter with me in the car.
I decided to modify my polystyrene black foam partitions in the boot and cut out sections for my tools, as the wheel well is taken up with my LPG tank. I fit all the necessary tools in now, including my multimeter. I have taken out my CD player as it didn't work. It got replaced with an MP5 player that runs out of the cigarette lighter socket. I have put a 5 litre oblong plastic food container in its place, perfect fit, so take some more tools. All set to go.
