My right hand speakers have stopped working but still have power to them?
American workshop manual does not match the EMV screened 31, so can not test the wiring, can't get it to match up.
Does anyone have experience with fixing this problem?
I do not have a stacker but use my radio with MP3 player.
Any help would be appreciated.
Do the head units play up and drop out one side output? If so, does anyone have a good unit that I can buy?

Cheers John

I just put everything back together and found that the right hand side speakers were not totally silent but not as strong as the left hand side. I had to push the sound settings far to the right to get any right hand side sound, both in the front and in the back.
Whats going on?
This has only just been the case, as before the system was fine and balanced both sides well.

I've had this problem since my EMV came back from repair last year but haven't had the car on the road since owing to other work I've been doing slowly.

I think from memory the sound on one side is not working, and I no longer have the volume I once had with radio stations; the volume stops increasing at a certain point when i turn it up. No other wiring was removed, the EMV was simply removed and then re-installed.

I wondering if maybe the amp has blown or maybe the subwoofer in the back has a bad connection. Guessing at the moment until I get round to having it checked

I had a dream last night that the problem was an earth, could this be the case?
When taking the EMV out there are 6 bolts that secure it to the console, 2 of them have 10 ml heads as opposed to the other 4, which have 8 or 9 ml heads. Could the 10 ml ones be connected to earthing the unit?
They were hard to get in, they pulled on the thread wanting to cross thread, which did happen to a degree?. I have noticed this before. I had to screw them back and forth to get them home but the sound seemed to be better when I reinstalled things. Sounds like an earth problem, what does everyone think?

thanks for those diagrams Dave. But they are a bit small to read. Could you email them and I could blow them up.
Cheers John

john, these type of faults can be caused by many things, you need to work thru it and illiminate things. You have 2 cars , it is easy to swap the 2 radio units (radio and dsp)under the rear seat, and then go forward from there

Hi John - will do. Good thinking on the bolts, I will have to check mine again, but do remember that there was a specific earthing wire that secures to a bolt/screw somewhere below the EMV, to the lower right, IIRC.

Tom - my radio unit was modified by Damian Ware at the same time that he was repairing my EMV, so the radio unit should be fine...

The mod was to convert it to pick up NZ radio stations w/o the need for expanders. Yes, the unit under the rear LHS seat.
