I'm looking at adding a Heads Up Display to my SC300.

Don't know why, no real reason other than they're reasonably cheap and I will probably do the mod to my other car and I can probably buy 2 cheaper than buying just 1.

I sorta feel the Lexus should have a HUD give its space aged dash design, and all the other trick bits the car has. Pity it doesn't have OBD2. Also with the increasing amount of police radars and speed cameras, it doesn't take long for speed to creep up.

So, my Q is what colour wire, and in which plug (I'm assuming the orange plug under the cluster) is the speed signal wire?

Check this link out brother -

The wire will be on the C84 but I'm unsure exactly which one, guessing it would be one of the output one's :-)

Hey James, just further, the OBD-1 port under the bonnet, what does that control?

I can find an adaptor for about $17 to go from OBD-1 to OBD-2 so if there is a speed sensor in the OBD-1 I can plug into there with the adaptor, and connect the HUD to the OBD-2 plug directly.

i wonder would this round plug work in the drivers foot well rather than the engine bay?
