Hi,

I just got a new soarer,

All it has at the moment is central locking. I want more!!!

Anyways I'm looking at my options, I'm looking at least getting remote locking, thinking about also getting alarm, immobiliser ect. I'm fine with just getting a basic system. Yes I've seen cheap ebay kits.

Anyways what are the prices (just roughly) for getting some of this options done? (for getting someone to install some of the above)

Cheers.

I looked in to this recently. In particular I looked at Viper alarms and they have various options that will do remote locking, blinker flashing, boot release etc, from about $200 (without installation). If you pay more you can even get a system with remote start, amongst other bells and whistles.

Installation costs varied from place to place, depending on their familiarity with soarers. Places that were confident with soarers claimed they could do it in 90 minutes tops and therefore installation was quoted at $100. Make sure you grill the potential installer to ensure they have installed in a soarer before...they can make a mess if they tap into the wrong wires (flat batteries, shorts, etc). For those in Melbourne, I settled on Autobarn in Springvale (the new one near Ikea on the Princes Fwy). Their guy instantly reeled off the differences between installing alarms in a V8 vs TT vs Supra. Clearly knew his stuff.

At another Autobarn, the guy told me that soarers were 'obsolete'. Great way to get a customer to purchase something...

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the detailed answer,

I went to my local Autobarn, they had kits which included being installed from $250-$500 and they had higher end kits too ($500+).

Most of these kits had ( 2 point immobilizer , keyless remote, alarm etc.). They said installing these kits should take 3-4 hours.

most of these alarm / radio installer monkeys hack the out of the factory wiring much better off getting alarm off ebay and doing it yourself or getting a proper auto sparky to install it,
