Hey hey, okay I seem to have a couple strange issues, both have happened spontaneously, as far as I'm aware.
#1 is on certain display screens, the EMV is non-responsive. ie. I can't access the trip computer button/screen, or select the type of climate control I want.
#2 is that the trip computer seems to come on and off whenever it pleases (the yellow bar). I have heard that it could be a switch which keeps the TV screen from turning off whilst driving, but I'm unsure how to check this.
#3 not an issue but a question - is there a way to hardwire an AUX in? currently I'm running a tape to 3.5mm jack but If anything I'd rather have all the wires hidden.
#4 - I seem to be getting the brake light error up on the dash, which also I have noticed I do not have parkers anymore. Is this just related to busted globes?

#4 Two issues i think. Brake lamp blown or faulty, or lamp holder faulty. Parking lights fault could be faulty diode, I cannot remember the exact position of the diode but it is located drivers side by fuse box.

Thanks for that. I pulled the globes and it looks like water has seeped into the tail light and burnt them out, one of the globe holders seems to be totally corroded, looks like I'll have to strip and recrimp one in.
With regarding the EMV touch response, it seems that certain areas aren't responding and others are. Is this a sign of failing caps/diodes inside the EMV unit itself?
I found this guide: http://myweb.westnet.com.au/rbaird/EMV.PDF just wondering if this will fix the problem

Beau, does your touchscreen work more on the right side and especially the lower right?
I think on here and maybe soarer world it's been suggested that by cleaning the screen you may get lucky and fix the touchscreen.
With the EMV out you need to carefully remove the front screen cover and then on the back of it remove the plastic screen surround which hides the light sensors.....as it's not really a touch screen and the light sensors may be clogged with dust and by cleaning them with either a small brush or as has been suggested, contact and switch cleaner or similar it may fix the touch issues.
I did this a little while ago and it improved the touchscreen a bit and made the AC and audio display the temperature and radio station but after sitting overnight started playing up again and went back to AC and Audio being blank
Mine has also been worked on (previous owner) from some electronics place in QLD and all the caps were fine as they had been replaced but they did write a note on the back cover saying that the touchscreen display was no good/responsive or something.
Hope this helps you and you have better luck than me, I'm going to go through and disconnect other things that may be connected to the EMV like the sat nav and stuff to see if that helps.
Next time I get the EMV apart I will take some pictures too.

I had the same issue with no aircon & audio. As Tom said its a leaky cap on the EMV computer and it has already eaten 3 lines on the board. Its all fixed now and working like a dream.

Myles - cleaned them with contact cleaner and the screen works wonders. Only issue I had was doing up the front board so tight that the sensors didn't have a gap to..'sense' ha. So working on that tomorrow. woot, trip computer ready for my road trip next week

Okay, another update. Very weird. Pulled it back apart to try and 'fix' the sense area, but it turns out it's gone back to being patchy, although completely different to what the original symptoms were. (different areas responding)
Any ideas, people? Edit: Miles - identical symptoms to you, now. right side, corner right / corner top only seem to work..
I think I might just bite the bullet and flog off one from the wreckers and hope for the best.
Scott - I just used CRC electronics cleaner, which I bought from Auto One for $11. Seemed to be a temporary fix at best. Very strange how it seemed to work 100% and then stop in such a short period.
