I decided to pull my dash out to fix the blinky thing. I am stuck trying to lower the steering column. May be I'm a bit thick, but I cannot see the bolts that allow the column to lower. Any help would be appreciated. This is an electric column

G'day mate,

up under the dash (put your head near the pedals-yes it will be uncomfortable) there will be bolts that fix the steering column to the steel cross bar.

It has been ages since I pulled the dash out of a Soarer, but I don't remember having to lower the steering column past the adjustment in the column itself. Mine are all pov pack though.

This is the most important bit of all.

This is the difference between "Mission Impossible" and "Walk in the Park". If you want a challenge then avoid this step!

See those two bolts? Loosen them, don't remove them, no need. Easier to leave them there - just undo them to the end of the thread - that'll be good enough.

This will allow the whole steering column to lower and give the essential clearance that is absolutley necessary to get the dash out.

Thanks Justin and Ben. The following worked for me. I set the column to it's lowest, most forward point and I then could move the upper column cover. I then removed the black lower dash moulding. From there I could loosen the two nuts (not bolts) that hold the column up from the front and that allowed the dash to come out easily. Putting things back was the reverse, except I put the black moulding on last.

Peter
