Over the past few weeks an orange warning light on my TT's dash illuminates now and then. Once it's come on (usually after I've accelerated reasonably gently- maybe to pull out into traffic and need to get the speed up) it stays on. However if I stop the car and turn the ignition off, when I restart the car the light doesn't illuminate.
It looks like an oil symbol except it's orange instead of red.
I last changed the oil (including oil filter) about two months ago (maybe 1500 k's ago) and it's still at just under 'full' on the dipstick. I used synthetic as usual.
Can anyone advise me what the warning light is for?

Thanks Tom but I'm not so sure. As I say, the oil's just a gnat's under 'full'.
I suppose I could add a little more oil (it would only need maybe half a litre) and see if that does the trick.
But at this stage I'm not convinced.
Having said that, I did find many months ago, that I was repeatedly getting the brake symbol come up on my dash when I occasionally braked reasonably hard even though the brake fluid was full.I added an absolute smidgen more brake fluid (about two thimble's worth) and the problem went away so you never know...

It is the low oil warning lamp. If the oil is anywhere between low and high on the stick, it should not come up. If it is coming up and the oil level is OK, then it must be the sensor or some electrical issue giving a false reading.
