Hey everyone. I posted about this already but can't find what thread I posted in So I'm gonna start again. I had a blinky dash problem and fixed that without any recurring issues, my problem with the dash now is that when I get in the car on a hot day and the car has been baking for a while the top part of my dash goes black. Speed, temp, fuel, revs are all black. After running air con for a while the dash comes back but only if I turn the car completely off and on again. Blinkers and lights still work, but the digital dash just goes black.

Is this just another case of replacing capacitors like the blinky dash problem?

I also haven't seen any posts for this particular problem, but if there are I'd be more than happy to accept just a link to it.

Cheers everyone

Did you upgrade the capaciters?
Did you change transistors?
Did you clean the board?
May have dry solder joint?

3rd time lucky perhaps Alex?

This isn't a common problem, so there isn't a simple answer available.

As Daniel said above (and was mentioned before) it is highly likely that the dash repair is actually the cause of your new problem.

Dodgy soldering would be high on my list.

Ha yeah 3rd ones the charm Peter.

Well I did all the caps and transistors relating to the blinky dash problem, so if that has something to do with it then it must be a dry solder joint. If I figure out the problem I'll put a big post up in case others have the problem.

Also, is there a suggestion box on here somewhere or do we just pm you Peter?

Send a PM if you like, or on here.

Just don't suggest we upgrade the software! :-)
