Hi, I have searched the diagnostics page but cannot find this one. Even the Japanese fault message is not on my list of messages. Can anyone help please?

Matt I'm really trying to find out what problem code 13 is with the EFI so I can fix it. The lead you gave me just confused me a little bit more. ;) Is there not a sheet somewhere with specific answers for each of these code numbers?

I have just replaced the timing belt and all seems well with the motor, also had the ECU overhauled. Must these sensors be checked by an auto electrician or are they easy to find to check myself? Incidentally I had this EFI ng fault message prior to replacing the timing belt as well. I only replaced the timing belt because a pulley was noisy. thanks for your help.

Check point for error code EFI 13 are as below. 1: valve timing (camshaft timing pulley, crankshaft timing pulley) 2: Cam position sensor 3: wire harness and connector(crank angle signal system) 4: ECU

Hi fellas checked crank sensor and both camshaft sensors all come up with good ohms. I then cleaned the IAC valve. The car ran beautifully, no Japanese messages, and it purred. Then I noticed that I had left off an electrical plug which is attached (I think) in the vicinity of the Sub throttle position sensor (according to the diagram that Matt directed me to) Any way I reconnected the plug and low and behold the Japanese message returned and the car would not run!!! Help

Regards the base timing Blake, after installing the timing belt I checked it four times turning the motor over, and lining up the original timing marks I was happy that part seemed ok.
DTC:toyota 13 Engine speed [RPM] sensor above 1000 rpm I did the 100,000 service stuffed the cam belt timming , been back in twice now to have all marks line up , in the meantime have this code thirteen , swapped out cams and crank sensor , a couple of new coils , no joy , doing my brain in [ I'm FRIED] any advice, cheers Pat.
Finaly got back to fix this situation, this time counting all the teeth on the Cam belt. Turns out , 4th time lucky the belt was marked WRONG . 53 teeth between cam marks not 54 with 77 each side of them to the Crank mark. Don't quote me , I'm still stressed and getting over the C19 this week. Next job is the replace core plug rear engine in what had been my daily drivers for 13.5 years except for the last 2.5 months.
