I've got a '91 UZZ31 that was sitting for several few months at work, I moved it again 2 months ago to home and all was OK. Power steering fluid was down then.
Tried to start it yesterday, battery was dead so put a brand new one in, it fired up OK but then had a mass of smoke coming from under the car, not the exhaust, I'm assuming p/s fluid on exhaust as it warmed up?
I was going to take it for a run to burn it off however turned it off to double check location of smoke before proceeding.
When I tried to restart, it now comes up with charging error on dash and won't crank over. I know I'm up for a new alternator however Auto Electrician is just 5 mins up the road to drive it there. I don't have any ramps or mechanical experience to remove it myself.
Is there any way I can fire it up to get to Auto Electricians? I've then got a 40 min drive to mechanic to get P/S rebuilt after its running again. Thanks in advance

Ok....got it going, all good except charge error comes on prior to starting but once started no error messages? If the alternator was not charging wouldn't it show a constant error message? Or am I just running on the battery?
