I got it out Daryl, Yes same as your picture. I pulled it apart and cleaned it out and found a little magnet and spring but no difference when I put it back together, it still doesn't give steady speed reading.

The one from Amayama is cheaper than one from Rock auto, so if I have to go new then that is the way.

My question is about the gear on the end. There is no visible wear in mine, so does that mean the problem is in the circuitry of the sensor itself?

Yes John,
The problem is in the circuit of the sensor. I had my original apart and although it all look OK it still was erratic, hence the problem with the speed readout and surging when in cruise control and changing in and out of overdrive. Hard to think that that sensor could give you all those problems!
