As the title suggests I'm wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to as where I can pick up the reverse light signal in the gear selector/console area & the associated wire colour? I'm needing to tap in to the signal for my reverse camera install, then I'm done.
Unsure if it should make a difference between models but as per my avatar - '92 UZZ31.
I should have been more specific - the reverse wire from the headunit is what I'm needing to hook up rather than extending it all the way to the boot if I've got a choice tap in to the signal closer?

it will be the same colour as stated in the above post. why do you need it up the front, when the camera is at the rear of the car? Do you have an after market unit and are not using the EMV?

michael, i think you are putting a new stereo unit into your car and trying to use the reverse cam input. I have a reverse cam working with my EMV , but in the future will change to a new 2 din unit with reverse cam input. Your problem is one i will also have, but hadnt thought of until now. I am looking for an EMV wiring diag to find the pin for the video, but no luck yet. If you find it pls post it on here.
When I installed a 2 din headunit with reverse camera, I just picked up power to the camera in the boot from the reverse light. Otherwise it should be the Red-Black wire coming from Neutral start switch connector, top right corner looking at the plug if your plug has 9 pin locations.
Ended up just taking the time to run the headunits reverse cam wire to the boot rather than using the neutral start switch connector as I had to fit my newly acquired Mine's ECU anyway, so carpet & trim was being lifted regardless.
Now all up & running, the picture is quite clear for a cheap $10 purchase. The guideline positioning on screen is slightly off due to the limited room inside the factory housing to seat the aftermarket camera & it's awkward shape, but it shall do.
The installation was more for having a functional camera if needed, not just all for looks seeing as I had upgraded the spoiler. I also cleaned off the old flaking paint from the cam fascia & polished it up, here are some pics:
