I have purchased an UZZ31 which has the airbag light on. Tried the Tc AB reset sequence, with the Airbag light blinking which should indicate the fault has been cleared but the light stays on.
What else can I check to remove the fault?
Do I need to get another airbag?
All help appreciated.

The airbag ecu itself is most likely faulty. There are capacitors in it that leak & cause a fault.

Where does the airbag ecu hide?

Remove the console. It sits under there near the dash.

They are quite deep in there, I think you need torx bits to loosen the screws too.

Ok, I have the same issue just appeared. What is the procedure to fix it? Does anyone have a tutorial on replacing the offending caps?
Thanks for help.

There's no set procedure.

Best case is open yours up, see what caps look leaky or suspect and replace them with high quality ones of a similar capacitance / voltage.

The bigger power retaining ones were leaking in some I inspected.

I just removed my airbag ECU and had it checked by a Tech, all Caps passed. Is there any thing else I can check.
Currently the bulb has been removed from the dash as I just had the car roadworthy. As my other 1994 UZZ31 does not have an airbag I am considering removing the airbag from this 1994 UZZ31.
Is there any other potential problems with removing the Airbag and ECU?

How did you go with yours, John

Also where are the 2 sensors behind the front bumper located?
My Bumper has been repainted maybe they did not reconnect the sensors.
Thanks, Jan

Jan the sensors are high up under the guard. Attached to the front skirt. They are activated by a collision hard enough to deform the front skirt.

I have checked the clock spring and that is fine.

Followed the Tc, AB, Tc, AB, Tc sequence.

Holding Tc to ground the Airbag failure light goes out for a couple of seconds and then begins to flash, which should indicate the fault has cleared.

Yet as soon as I remove the Tc to earth wire the error light comes back on
