Hi there,
Yesterday I noticed it was getting difficult to lock the drivers door with the key (do not have a working central locking system).
I've WD40 the key and lock and even tried my spare key but no improvement.
Today i've tried to investigate further and now even the unlocking of the door sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. The locking of the door never works.
I've tried the passenger door as well and similar - quite sticky and sometimes the key doesn't unlock at all (cannot be turned). This might have been like this for a while though as I never open the passenger door. This is with both keys - one hardly ever used.
Now with my investigations I unlocked the car to try and get it to lock and now the key is stuck in the drivers door lock in the unlock position. The barrel will just not turn right to the normal position and release the key.
Sounds like the lock mechanism has had it but how can I get my key out of the door now? Anyone got any words of wisdom?

This has been a common problem due to age, try compressed air and graphite powder, gentle wriggle the key in,out, left and right, use the graphite powder and air to clean out the other lock in passengers side and use other key, then maybe call a locksmith or buy some new barrel sets which are still available.
