After all this time I have only just noticed the park lights come on at a predetermined ambient intensity, and then the headlights come on after that when getting darker, also the opposite when ambient light is getting lighter. Hence a 2 stage sensing. Is this the same as other models, has anyone noticed ?

That's correct, noticed this myself a while ago.

Thought it was a fault at first, then realised it was a dual stage sensing system.

Kinda cool.

The sensor is on the top of the dash on the drivers side. On the other side is a sensor that tells the AC to work harder in full sunlight.

You can just leave the light switch on Auto and never touch it, though I prefer to turn it off so the lights are not on while starting the car.

This isn't just a UZZ32 feature by the way, I am pretty sure that all series 3 Soarers have it. My UZZ31 and UZZ30 both have it.

Only thing is that it can flash your lights when going under a bridge which may confuse oncoming traffic.

My jzz30 gt-l manual does the same thing.
