Is it just the outer two red tail lights not working? So the 6 indicator, 2 reverse and 2 stop lights working ok? What about the 2 number plate lights?
I assume you have changed the two tail light bulbs with confirmed working bulbs?

have a look at the "sensor unit" for the brake and tail lights. It is a brown box mounted above the RHS rear wheel in the boot. Just in from the fuel cap.

you will maybe have a burnout on the cct board.

Thanks everyone for the feedback particularly Tom. It was the failure lamp unit in the boot and had a burnt out circuit board which was easy to fix
