Hi All,

I'm new here and to Soarers.

My CD Stacker doesn't work, which is common I know. But I want to use my ipod anyway.. I'm currently using a tape deck adapter but I'm not overly happy with the sound quality (and an FM Transmitter is even worse)... does anyone know how I can hardwire a 3.5mm jack (headphone jack) to the stereo, say in place of the signal from the CD player so it still runs through the Amp?? I'm not sure if I need to run a cable from the cd player in the book at connect it there somehow or if there is another way to do it?
Make sense? has anyone done this before?

Thanks..

Yeah I know I could get it fixed but it's 12 cd's against 8000 songs on my ipod :-) so I would prefer hardwire it in...

You need a WORKING cd changer to allow the oem audio to stay active (re the above link)

Using automotive relays for small signals is pants too.

I'm pretty sure my cd player works, the issue is with the loading mechanism, it won't eject the cartridge or play, but the light is on and I can hear it attempting to do something...

Why not just get a new head unit with a USB connection for the Ipod?

Not sure if you've got the EMV with TV in yours but if you do then the easiest way is to hook into the TV tuner wiring.

Simply use the audio input wires and switch to the tv mode on the EMV:

Luke-No you don't, I have no cd changer, no emv, no tape deck, no radio, and my ipod hooked up which works just fine.
All you need to done is run ignition pwr to the amp, under the passenger rear seat, and a mic to line cable to hook up to the amp.
Here are wiring diagrams I used-they are not fully correct, but they work.

If you want to ditch the changer, just do the club lexus guys trick but without the relays, as you don't need the changer to work at all.

all you will need is the ipod to rca cable, terminate that to the applicable wires as shown

while you're there, grab a 12v- usb charger and hardwire that aswell and you won't drain it!

ps. i'm going to do this aswell

You are connecting directly to the AMP (on an EMV removed car), NOT as per page one of the Clublexus tutorial - see quote below.

'SC300/400 (all years)**

**=will intercept signal between CD Changer and Headunit, not amp, needs to be done on SC300/400 (all), 98-00 GS3/4 with NAK, and 98-00 LS400 with NAK (NOT needed on non-nak 98-00 LS/GS)

I'm sure this link has been posted before but I cant seem to find it and the original comments about it. Somethings in the tut appear to be well thought out there are a number of things that make my back cringe.

The relays they have used for example...

If you use the TV input to wire directly to the EMV, my understanding is the DSP unit is bypassed. Is this correct? Will the subwoofer still be used or is the DSP acting as an active cross-over, and therefore the sub is also being bypassed?

Thanks,
Mike

You can use the TV input on the EMV equipped Soarer - the DSP function does not operate in TV mode UNLESS you have the VLAD radio conversion fitted.

Ah, that is on my todo list. Good to know.

What about the sub? Will any audio still be split off to the sub?

I suspect it is stereo as there is a connection for left and right audio.

Do you use your tape deck? if not, why dont you just find the tracks on the circuit board for the left and right audio. Have done this before in different units with much success

Yep, I have been using it until I get the radio mod (stacker was scratching disks on eject/change). I have a DVD player that plays MP3 as well. Its navigation requires video output and that is the main driver.

I’ve recently discovered that my emv setup has an aux audio input wired in through the radio module, I’ll get some photos and map out the wiring because it’s quite a good sound, there’s a fake (mp3 player tape) tape that just sits in the deck to keep the cogs turning whilst the sound comes from the aux input.

That radio receiver with the line input may have been modded by Mike Beck, who did mine at the same time as the refurb
