Bigger, clearer, numbered & with recent inclusions from the "Who's who in the tail light Zoo" thread I started.
Intended as a "living" doc, hence the couple of remaining slots to be filled.
I would like a hi res shot of "Smoked" or tinted tails 91-93, 93-96 & if anyone has done em 96+.
Any other variants just post a photo here or PM me IF ITS A HI RES PHOTO ONLY.
Happy hunting, I can't decide which ones I like best anymore

L5 tail lights is a custom job. It involves opening the tail lights themselves. There was a link to a tutorial somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. |

Hugh, Vinh is correct it is a custom job on 91-93 lights (ie L3) There is a very detailed & easy to follow tutorial on Clublexus.......It is however a large job not for the faint of heart or shaky of hands  Lots of pic's of the finished tail on a black car. Looks quite nice.

L5 is my prefered option too, match that with clear side repeaters and remove the orange condom in the headlight, is the way to finish the complete look. |

Aaron, indeed if you have Jap produced L5's it is interesting to see what may be the very 1st mass produced version of what started out as a user mod'd (in the US)tail light. Could you take a bunch of detailed pic's? Like Ryan I'd be interested to hear what they are worth as well.
Ryan, your 1st post is R4 by the looks of it.

BTW, you can edit text but can't edit pic's. I've sent a PM to Pen asked him to remove the image in the 1st post & replace with the update with the new red ones. I'll ask him to clear out all other images so the tread is concise & focused on discussion around the 1st post image, should make it more user friendly, less chance of confusion as debate continues.

Existing posts can only have the pictures removed, there is no mechanism for adding a new pic.
How about just let this run, and when everything is sorted out, start a fresh one which I can then lock and move to eg Soarer Specs and Useful Information. |

Saw a set of these tail lights on Yahoo Japan and they look like the 94+ tail lights but just the bottom half are clear.

I think L5 were actually produced before they were a user mod. On the club lexus site they do mention a compnay called taka kaira. They have a website http://www.takakaira.com/ and if you go there, they have the L5 and L6 for sale, mind you theyre not cheap! The webiste has been around for quite a number of years, and it has a very good range of products for the soarer. (only place where i could find a short shift kit for the soarer) |
