This is a problem that I have had for a couple of years. The door makes a clunking noise when it is opened half way and it seems when it is opened that it drops a few millimetres. When the door is being closed the clunking noise is heard again and the door seems to lift a few millimetres up to close without scratching the edges of the door housing (door pillar). More serious door problems have been pin pointed to the hinges and more specifically to the hinge’s pins. Does someone have experience of taking the door off the car (door seems to weigh a ton). I wonder if I can do the job myself by advising me what I should do and what I shouldn’t do previous to the job of taking the door off the car. I have already bought two brand new hinges for this car.

Hi, If you get the Soarer bible I think there is a part that tells you how to adjust the doors. (2 man job I would think). But seeing as how you've already got the hinges, if the adjustment doesn't work you might as well change the whole lot. I was also told that the hinges were located in place with pins that could not be moved, so I'me not sure what is best. My drivers door, however, seems to be catching about 1 1/2" of the front wing in the centre. But there doesn't appear to be any play on the door and it doesn't do it all of the time?

Geoff:
I am thinking in the best way to remove the doors from the car without make a mess of it. Perhaps I need to built from wood something that support the door while I am taken the bolts out( + a partner).
Do you have any idea how long will it take to do this job?
