The door and guard are just ever so slightly touching - is there any adjustment in the door and guard? I have read most of the posts re hinges but this a 98 model so I thought the hinge should be OK? My first step is loosen the guard and try to move it slightly forward - I am only looking for a millimeter or two. Any suggestions? thanks Rob

If you open the bonnet and loosen the bolts securing the gaurd along the top, you may be able to gain some clearance by pushing the gaurd in a little. And yes there is some adjustment in the bolts attaching the door to the hinge.

Robert what you will find mate is the door hinge has a little bit more play in it than it should That will be the reason for the touching. on the door hinge (the car side not the door side) you will see that the hinge is located on to little pins these pins are only glued on so you can be a little rough with the door and thay will let go.that way you can get a bit more lift in thr door. i actually use a trolley jack (protected)to balance the door on and help with any adjustments

Thanks for your help guys I got out there this morning and slightly shifted the guard as suggested on other posts. However whilst there i noted that there was a large amount of play in the hinge itself. Meaning I will have to replace it at some stage (sooner rather then later). Cheers Rob

Robert, this will eventually put a dent in your guard one day. I had the same problem and got to it early enough. Here is the solution i have been running for more than 6 months. http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/283/50652.html?1141843889 The long term answer is new, low km or reconditioned hinges.
