First off Merry Christmas all. Also have a safe and Happy New Year.
I have done some searching on the forum and haven't been able to come up with anything yet regarding the Chrome Window surround and retro-fitting it to Soarers that didn't come with it (notably TT's).
I know some of the later model Turbos actually had a factory run of the Chrome Window surround + all factory V8's in existence. Is it possible to fit them to a TT?
Obviously anything is possible if you have enough cash, but I'm thinking more along the lines of finding a second hand set (i.e. from a wreckers) and putting it on the car. If it can be done, that's great but then is it an easy process or is it more complicated than it would appear?
Yeah I know, it looks to be the same process though. I know that the B-pillars have a raw metal finish (the B-pillars on my old Soarer were peeling) but not so sure about the window trim.
Guess you could grab a second hand window trim from a TT somehow and experiment with it

They are "Chrome-ish"/"polished metal" underneath- all of them, any model: pov pak or GT or LTD...TT or V8. You can get the black off with either: one of the commercial goopy type (liquid but real thick) paint strippers or with brake fluid. My advise if you're gonna do it...pay the freight & get the stripper it is better quicker & you don't have to rub or sand or scratch it at all. You just brush it on, wait 15 wipe it off & repeat= You'd be if you tried to do this whilst the window is on the car but if you take em off its pretty easy. You really need to get em powdercoated in clear or sprayed in clear after that or they'll dull & show water marks etc quite quickly.

Now the question is how do you get it off? I'll hunt on the forum but somehow I can't remember a thread about it anywhere. Maybe there's something on Reepa as well, but don't think there was.

Remove the interior trim, & then can't quite remember its either 3 or 4 nuts you undo from treaded bolts (are a part of the window its self protruding through window body frame surrounding the window) disconnect the wires for the TV aerial & you're away. 20 mins each side

There was a thread, maybe on the archive. Basically some flexible chrome stripping was used, but after a week it started to crinkle at the bends and didn't look so hot.
