hey guys,
I was thinking about replacing my stock chrome toyota badges ( T and Soarer emblems on the boot ) for a gold set. I am wondering what is involved in removing the old set of badges and fixing the new set to the boot. Greatly appreciate it!

I don't know what they use to affix the new badges, but I seem to remember someone saying to use fishing line to remove the stock ones.

Aaron, the original Soarer badges do have lugs on them as well as double sided tape.

As Tim has suggested, just use some fine fishing line until you come to a lug, then work away at it from the other side.........if you know what I mean.

Grab yourself some VST Tape. It's what the panel beaters etc use.

P.S. I scored some from the body shop that resprayed my boot lid and it's awesome. It might be worth asking a couple of local body shops if they'd add an extra role to their order for you next time. I get the impression that communicating with these guys (InsanDigichem) could be a little tricky.

Prepsol (or any Wax and Grease Remover, but NOT THINNERS OR DEGREASER) gets teh gummy stuff lose, badges come off easy, doesnt affect the paint. Three lug holes in the boot for the T badge and about 7 holes in the boot for the SOARER badge.

Fishing line will mark the paint if your not careful.

Make sure the replacement badges are identical in size, otherwise the 'age shadow' will be very visible.

Hi - I bought my '95 GT-L [pearl white] from a dealer but the red Griffin got lifted just before I picked it up ... and the dealer was all like: "..sorry gov there's not much we can do about it.."

Who was I to complain? I was going to buy this little beauty anyway [i.e. one drive and I was in love].

So... does anyone have a griffin badge going for a newbie? . $300-$350 not in my budget for professional front bar patch and spray...

P.S. I am researching having some griffin vinyl stickers [more like thick mettalic-look decals] made up - has anyone got any pics / ideas / options?

I'd make them pay for a replacement. Honestly, don't back down, they won't loose a sale for a few hundred dollars worth of badge.
