Well I paid the local Westfield a visit to purchase some tickets from Ticketek. It was packed that day and I really needed to find a spot before Ticketek closed. So a spot became available , and I took it. It was sort of a tight squeeze, but I GAVE the guy on the passenger side plenty of room for him to open his door and get in.
15 minutes later, I came back and he was gone. The spot was still empty, and I gave the car a check up before I jumped in. Lo and behold, the moron managed to scrape some paint off my NEWLY RESPRAYED CAR. Looked like he just swung his door open, not giving a sh*t about my car. Not much you can do about people like that.

Pretty common for that to happen im told these days, especially with 4wd owners.
A couple of people i know who work in shops with sight to a parking area have said that they frequently see people opening their doors as far as they can to get in/out with no respect for whats around. It doesnt seem to be limited to only "crappy" car owners as well, owners of brand new Mazdas, Mercs, etc etc all like to do it.

After reading so many peoples posts on the forum about cars being damaged in car parks I take photo's of the car and what's park either side with the mobile. Takes only a few seconds to do, but can at least give you proof of who did it
Bit hard for them to deny when your paints on their bumpers. Also check for little dings in the doors when people open their doors without a care.

Well my dad was in a bit of a hurry and he kind of hit my car with his 4x4 as he was reversing out of the garage. I was just wondering if I would need a new rear quarter panel to repair this and how much would it cost approximately?
Oh and by the way he has already agreed to pay for the damage.

Ah, family...
I'd say you have two options there, it could be pulled and skimmed, or replaced. If it's pulled, its going to need a fair amount of filler as the metal will be quite distorted and stretched after being so bent. A replacement panel is always going to be the better option, but is going to cost a lot more. Either way a pro is going to make it look as good as new.
Personally the idea of filler in my car makes me shudder, but I don't really know why.

Why are you all so angry towards his dad? Simple accident and its good of him to accept full responsibility in the repair.
I know when im late for work and rushing off in the mornings still half asleep there are thousands of things that can easily happen to put me in a similar situation.

What are those rims Chris? Do you have a better picture?
Hey Brett, don't have a better picture but they are Starcorp Racing - attack rims check this link for pictures of them on another soarer http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/5079/129473.html?1173249730. They were on the car when I bought them but I am thinking of changing them to Koya - menis as I personally don't think chrome wheels and a silver car go together
black inserts are hot
Thanks for your help everyone. I'll probably take it to a panel beater sometime next week and get this all fixed up, then i will have a sexy car again

Wouldn't it be handy if you had a bunch of cameras on your car facing in all directions and when the car senses a sudden impact anywhere on the exterior all of the cameras flash and capture the moment....
I know it sounds silly at first but have a think about it...
Yeah, I finished work one day and came back to my car to find a lovely ding where someone's obviously smacked it and pissed off... again not much you can do in these cases except to cop it on the chin unfortunately.
Talking about work, I'll catcha's... already running late
