245 front 275 rear should keep your speedo in check you can fit a 10" wheel under there... all has to do with offset... what offset are the ones your looking at?

i'm not definite but i think they're +35mm offset. so say i just ask them for a range that'll suit the soarer and 245 front and 275 rear will they fit no worries?

LOL..... if they are a +35mm you can put them on a skyline. to fit a 275 nicely you want ATLEAST a +42 offset, preferably 45-50.

alright then. so if i tell them all this they'll be able to show me a range of mags that suit that? so 245 front, 275 rear and at least +42 offset?

Ummm... What's the width of the tyre got to do with it?? Shouldn't it be the height of the tyre, for speedometer purposes. Basically you will have rubber bands for tyres.

Yes and no. Tyre profile size is a factor of width. I'd love to say a percentage of the width but it isn't quite right. For example, a 40 profile on a 275 tyre will be 'taller' than a 40 profile on a 205 tyre. On my car to get the height (or rolling diameter) the same front to rear I have 275/35 and 245/40 tyres on 9.5 and 8.5 inch wheels. Note: This is my interpretation only. I am not a tyre dealer/fitter/manufacturer by any means. |

Josh go down to a tyre dealer and ask them. They should have a chart with all the different size tyres and their rolling diameters. You can never really match them exactly to the stock rolling diameter but can get pretty close. They will be able to tell you the closest size. Someone correct me if im wrong but i was under the impression that the speedo on the soarer didnt run off the rolling diameter of the tyre? Also check out the legalities of not having a tyre size present on the tyre placard on your car, because im pretty sure they only go up to 17"

As with most cars, the speedo is driven off the final output from the transmission, so tyre size has a direct effect on speedo accuracy. Lots of calculators available on the web. |

Yeah I have 235x35x20 and my speedo is 1 to 2km out I still cant get over how soft the ride is in these cars even riding on 20's though I used my Navman to judge actual speed so it might have been out a bit more

"1-2k out", "3k out" At 10km/h or 150km/h? If your tyres are selected to fit within legal variations (typically within 3%) then your speedo variation will be within 3%, by the same parameter.

Just as an aside, having worked with the DVT at Holden (the big dyno looking thing that is used to test/check/calibrate as part of validation) the speedo's on dunnydores is set slightly higher than actual speed and the margin gets larger the quicker your going (60 kmh reading - 56-58 kmh actual / 110 kmh reading 103 - 106 actual is about normal). Never bothered to find out if this was a production stipulation backed by any legal requirements or if they were just playing it safe. I'd hazard a guess and say that most manufacturers would work to a similar standard (in that area at least).
