James I have just been quoted $400 for a full boot respray which includes rewelding the badge holes. This seems to be about the going rate in Adelaide. One crash repairer quoted me $550, obviously I didn't go with them.

To do it properly it would be expensive because the boot is adjacent to three different panels (rear bumper, left qtr, and right qtr) which all need to be blended to get that even colour look.

well at the moment the car has every panel slightly differant colours so it doesnt really matter if its not 100% right.
already have the colour matched paint so that must bring the price down a bit.
the reason it need a respray is because someone before has done a dodgy job on it. the clear coat started to bubble. it wasnt to bad at first but just lately its grown really big so now it looks really bad. it needs to be sanded back and start all over again.
and while im at it what do you think is better?? badges off or on?? or just have the soarer badge on and the toyota one off?

if you are respraying the boot fill the holes up ,and sand the nobs off the badges and stick them on with double sided tape, that way you can take them off if you dont like them

Totally agree with Scott, leave your options open. Let your new paint cure for a couple of weeks also before dicking about with the badges (not essential but very paint friendly)
